  18.   The Custom Configuration Program (CCP) allows you to customize
  19.   Paradox for a variety of features.  For the purpose of this
  20.   document we will describe how to access the color customizing
  21.   capabilities of the CCP.  After starting Paradox choose Scripts |
  22.   Play and type "custom" and press <Enter>.
  23.  
  24.        A splash screen appears and then the prompt:

  26.        "Are you using a B&W monitor right now? (Y for yes, N for
  27.         no).
  28.  
  29.   Type the appropriate response and press <Enter>.  Next, select
  30.   Video | Colors | Modify. The menu:  "Workspace, Top2Lines&Menu,
  31.   CurrentSelection, and Annotation" appears.  "Workspace" will be
  32.   highlighted.  There are eleven color selection screens available:

  34.        1) The Paradox Main Menu:  Workspace,
  35.        Top2Lines&Menu,CurrentSelection, and Annotation.

  37.        2) A Menu Prompt:  Workspace, Top2Lines&Menu, and ModeSign.

  39.        3) A Prompting List:  Workspace, Top2Lines&Menu,
  40.        CurrentSelection, ModeSign, and Messages.

  42.        4) Query Forms:   Workspace, Top2Lines&Menu, ModeSign,
  43.        CurrentImage, and NoncurrentImage.
  44.  
  45.        5) Tables in CoEdit Mode:  Workspace, Top2Lines&Menu,
  46.        ModeSign, CurrentImage, and NoncurrentImage.

  48.        6) The Report Generator:  Workspace, Top2Lines&Menu,
  49.        ModeSign, FieldValues, VerticalRuler, and BandLines.

  87.        11) Summary of Paradox Screens:  This screen provides the
  88.        user with a summary of all choices made previously.

  90.   These screens allow for the modification of Paradox's color.  The
  91.   following example demonstrates how to modify colors.

  93.   Highlight "Workspace" with the horizontal arrow keys and press
  94.   <Enter> to begin changing colors.  The color palette appears at
  95.   the upper right of the screen.  Use the arrow keys to scroll
  96.   through the color palette.  The vertical arrows control the
  97.   background colors, and the horizontal arrows control the
  98.   foreground colors.

  100.   Move to the red background with the vertical arrow key.  Press
  101.   <Enter> to select that color.  Repeat the process with
  102.   "Top2Lines&Menu".  Choose a light grey background with a yellow
  103.   foreground.  Notice how at the top of the color palette the
  104.   message; "Yellow on Light-Grey" appears; this message changes as
  105.   the palette is scrolled by the arrows.  Press <Enter> to choose
  106.   the yellow on light-grey setting.

  108.   Highlight "Annotation" with the horizontal arrow keys and press
  109.   <Enter> to begin changing colors.  Using the arrow keys choose
  110.   light-red on green.  This completes the color selection for the
  111.   workspace and the top two lines of Paradox.

  113.   How Keys Function
  114.  
  115.   The <Page Up> and <Page Down> keys are used to move between the
  116.   eleven screens.   At any time during the selection process on
  117.   line help is available by pressing <F1>.  Use <Ctrl-Home> to move
  118.   to the first color selection screen and <Ctrl-End> to move to the
  119.   last color selection screen.

  150.   How to Save or Cancel Your Changes

  152.   When you are finished press <F10>.  Select "Save" to save your
  153.   changes.  A prompt appears asking for a name for the new color
  154.   configuration; type "test" and press <Enter>.  A prompt appears
  155.   asking for a brief description; type "color test"; press <Enter>.
  156.   To cancel your changes, select "Cancel".

  158.   The colors menu appears choose Return | Return | Do_It!
  159.   | Do_It!.  A menu with the choices HardDisk or Network appears.
  160.   Choose HardDisk.  These steps exit the CCP and return to DOS.

  162.   Re-enter Paradox and play the CUSTOM script.  Choose Video |
  163.   Colors | ExistingSettings | Select.  "Test" should be displayed
  164.   with a asterisk next to it, indicating it is the color setting.
  165.   Exit the CCP and start Paradox; the new color scheme should be
  166.   immediately apparent.  To use another color setting, enter the
  167.   CCP and select Video | Colors | ExistingSettings | Select; choose
  168.   a color setting and exit CCP.  Notice the change in the color
  169.   settings after you start Paradox.

  171.   Changing Graph Colors

  173.   The CCP allows you to graph colors: both displayed and printed.
  174.   From the main Custom menu, choose Graphs | GraphSetttings |
  175.   Overall | Colors | Screen.  The screen displays the title
  176.   "Customize Graph Colors" on the top left of the screen and a
  177.   color palette with colors for background and graph elements.

  179.   The cursor blinks on the first choice for graph elements press
  180.   "C" this will select green from the "Background Choices" column
  181.   of the color palette.  Notice how the color to the right of the
  182.   entry changes to green.  Press <Enter> and the cursor moves to
  183.   the "Frame" selection.  Press "E" and <Enter>.  The "Grid"
  184.   selection is displayed press "A".  Notice how the color to the
  185.   right of the grid displays the same color as the background (in
  186.   this case green).  Press <Enter> and select "G" for the "First
  187.   Title Line".

  189.   Press <Enter> and choose a color for the "Second Title Line".
  190.   Repeat the color selection process for the rest of the choices on
  191.   the screen.  The "Series" portion of the screen color the

  217.   patterns.  Some features to take note of are:

  219.        1) Colors B through H are your only choices for Background
  220.        colors.
  221.  
  222.        2) All colors are available for every other graph element.

  224.        3) Selecting A will select the same color for the graph
  225.        element as the background color.

  227.   When completed press <F10> Return | Return | Do_It! | Do_It! and
  228.   place the PARADOX.CFG file in the appropriate directory.  To
  229.   familiarize  yourself with what color setting effects which
  230.   feature of the graph, return to the color menu for graphs, change
  231.   only one element and see which part of the graph is affected.
  232.   Experimenting with the color settings will help expand your
  233.   knowledge of graphs and the color settings in the CCP.
